Original Question: Question on data rate selection in router by NagarjunaG
Can I use same data rate in the upstream and downstream while configuring the router in ADRadioNet? What are the implications of this?

Good question. Yes. You can choose the same data rate for both the upstream and downstream channels
The data rate is one key parameter that need to be selected wisely in order to achieve low power performance with your system.
Higher the data rate, lesser the receiver sensitivity will be - because more power is required at the receiver to support higher data rates. For efficient operation of wireless sensor network, it is recommended that devices be configured to operate at low data rates, increasing the receiver sensitivity with narrow bandwidth. While deploying ADRadioNet, it is suggested to choose data rates in decreasing order as you move towards the Center Point. Shown below is a router configured with higher data rate in the downstream and lower data rate for upstream:
Specific to your question, you can choose the same data rate for both upstream and downstream communication as shown below.
: Make sure that the other devices in next higher and lower orbits are configured to operate at these settings.
