ADRV9002 + ZCU102, Unable to get spectrum output in TES

Iam evaluating the ADRV9002 board with the following setup:

1. ZCU102 Rev 1.1 board

2. ADRV9002BBCZNP/W1=0.03-3GHz C0 silicon revision board

3. In order to work with ZCU102 the SD Card is re-imaged with the ADRV9001 Disk image utility Ver. 0.16.0

4. TES GUI Ver. 0.16.0 is installed and used

The ZCU102 board boots up correctly and iam able to connect and program the ADRV9002 board with TES GUI correctly.

But in Receive data capture, Iam not able to see the spectrum output and when stop button is clicked an error log mentioning "dma transfer has timed out" is coming.

I have attached the receiver configuration(RX Overview), error message from TES and Spectrum output screenshots.

How to solve this issue and evaluate the ADRV9002 with ZCU102 board.

    Hello Saravanan,

    Unless I'm mistaken there appears to be some other issue with your setup. Every image except the one detailing the error message indicates that you're using a Zero-IF setup, however that image with the error message window shows an IF of 490kHz. That field should update immediately when you program the IF into the device, the fact that it isn't might indicate some other connection issue. 

    Before we dive into SW issues I'd like to ask you to confirm that your physical setup has no issues (make sure the FMC connection to the FPGA is secure and straight, not shanked at all) and that your device clk input is either set to the on-board oscillator or connected securely to an external signal generator. In either case, be sure to match the frequency with the setting in the "Clocks" tab.

    You mentioned in your question that you just recently re-imaged your SD card with the latest imaging tool version. Sadly this tool does seem to be a bit finicky, so another attempt at re-imaging could solve your issue. Give it an attempt if the physical debugging efforts yield no benefits.

    Finally, if there are other people you could ask to attempt programming your setup on this platform with both Windows 7 and Windows 10 that would confirm wither the issue is with your computer / TES install or with TES itself.

    Give these bits of debug a try, if none of them work return here and we'll see what else we can do.

    I have re-imaged the SD card once again and i have installed the TES GUI in another PC, after these attempts also the problem is still there.

    Hello Saravanan,

    I brought your issue to FPGA and SD card image experts in our team, their thoughts on the matter are:

    1. It is not clear how the GUI is being configured. Try:
      • Open GUI
      • Connect
      • Program
      • Receive->Play
      If that still gives a timeout then there is some issue with the hardware that will need to be debugged further. If that passes then you got the error with some custom TES configurations steps on your side
    2. Error indicates a wait on dma to complete has timed out and the call gave up. The timeout is likely based on 24ksps * dma-length, so most likely the interface is dead. The next stage of debug for you is likely to try a different EVB and different FPGA with your current EVB and FPGA (So try:   current EVB with new FPGA   AND  new EVB with current FPGA). This should help narrow down where the issue is coming from.
