AD9361 phase difference between 2 TX channels

In our design we use AD9361 devices that transmit and receive in both channels.

As we simultaneously transmit a waveform in both AD9361 Tx channels we measure a significant phase difference between the signals: 40deg at 2.94GHz

Can we phase synchronize the transmission channels?

  • Are you feeding the input signal to  the TX1 and TX2 channels of two AD9361 devices ? If so, we donot have RFPLL MCS for this chip , and hence you are seeing phase difference between TX1 and TX2 because of different LO source(you can use external Lo option in this case). Only baseband MCS is there which aligns the digital clocks of  both the devices w.r.t the REF_CLK. Refer to the "MULTICHIP SYNCHRONIZATION" section in UG for details on configuring baseband MCS.

    We are feeding the input signal to the TX1 and TX2 channels of the same AD9361 device.

  • Are you able to see a constant  phase difference between TX1 and TX2 w.r.t the REF_CLK to the chip?Or is it randomly changing with time? Are you running the baseband MCS in the chip?
