# AD9361: compute data rate I can reach

Hello!

I design a nonlinear modulator, MSK ( SDK) and use AD9361 as a transmitter.

AD9361 has a max data rate 61,44 Mbps. SDK -modulator was designed with the oversampling ratio 4  ( it will reduce the max data rate in 4 times)

Can someone explain why such design ( with ovsm ratio 4) will not work in AD9361?

• What is the data rate of the signal that is going into  the AD9361 input(@FIR input of the chip)? The maximum rate that is supported at the input of our chip in 61.44Msps.

how can i define it? or find it? do i find it in the specification of  the chip (zynq, microzed) i used for the implementation the nonlinear modulator?

1. The first filter at the transmitter side "PROG TX FIR": can I store 2 set of filter coefficients? ( in my design, I have different sets of coefficients: set 1 is for case 1, and set 2 is for set 2) Can I define a condition: for example, Use the first set of the coefficients if you have case 1...and so on)

No, it is not possible to change the FIR coefficients or load two profile configurations(sampling rate, BW) at the same time.

"PROG TX FIR", is it an interpolation filter?

Yes, the TXFIR filters first and then interpolates. Thus, the bandwidth will always be with respect to the data rate at its input.

What does mean? I have understood, it is a programmable polyphase FIR filter and I can store my coefficients, right?

If I am right, I can store only one set of coefficients and this set is fixed. Did i understand correctly?

Yes, you can load programmable FIR filter coefficients for one set of filter, not the two profiles which you mentioned in the previous post.

• Yes, the TXFIR filters first and then interpolates.

In my design, I oversample a signal and then filter....is it possible with ad9361? if yes, how can I implement it?

• TXFIR supports the first filter and then interpolates, and it is possible to change the data rate as required.
