Question about countermeasures for ADRV9029 EVB DPD STABILITY_ERROR.

I am trying to use WOLFSPEED(CREE)'s GTRB424908FC for AMP

However, STABILITY_ERROR is continuously displayed on DPD Status.

Can I get some advice on this?

  • You are getting stability error because of high EVM and select errors. Update count is 0 means DPD tracking never updated.

    Few other things to try out.

    • Try DPD mode 1, 
    • try increasing the peak search window size by 2 x , 10X of default.
    • try increasing regularization value. 25, 30 (other values as well)

    If you operate the PA at lower power are you able to get better updates.

  • Please check the picture below to make sure you did as you advised.

    I have also loaded the file you gave the DPD GMP model.

    However, STABLITY_ERROR is still occurring on TES.

  • Please try with DPD update Mode 2 which is recommended for GaN PA ( GTRB424908FC)

    Can you check DPD performance at 'Target power- 3dB'and check if you are still getting stability error?

  • Lowering the output power (increasing the TX attenuation from 1dB to 10dB) still gives the DPD stability error.

    Please advise on what I can do more.

  • Try Mode 2 as well.

    Can you add 10dB attenuator at the ORX input Port of the EVB and check?

    Also, can you decrease the ORX Gain Index and try?

  • I proceeded to DPD Mode 2, but I keep getting STABLITY_ERROR as shown below.

    I also attached a 10dB fixed attention to the ORX Port.

    Direct EVM comes out about 10%, but if you adjust TX Attenuation and ORX gain, only +/-1% changes.

    Can you run the DPD once by disconnecting the PA, which means Tx to ORX through a coupler (Make sure the ORX is not saturating) and check if you are still seeing stability error ?
