Usage of 2 Rx ports of ADRV9004 receiver

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADRV9004,9003,9002
Software Version: -

Dear,

How to use 2 Rx ports of ADRV9004 receiver?

that is, are they for different frequency bands as 30MHz~3GHz & 3~6GHz?

So, 1 port will cover 30MHz~3GHz and the other port will cover 3~6GHz?

In that case, do the impedance matching circuits need to be different for each port?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi,

No, both Rx channels cover the entire range of 30MHz to 6GHz. The impedance matching networks only need to cover the range that you are interested in using and can be different for each channel.

  • Dear Conrad,

Thank you for your answer again,

You mean each receiver and each ports of each receiver can cover the entire of 30MHz to 6GHz,

Does it mean each receiver and  ports can cover whole range of 30MHz to 6GHz without impedance matching network, and only with transformer balun?

    Or,

Does it mean the different impedance matching is needed per each channel, and 2 receivers or 2 ports need to be used to cover this whole freq range?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards,

  • Hi,

All receiver ports can cover the whole range of 30 MHz to 6 GHz. A matching network is required for the band of interest for a port. It is possible, if needed, to create a matching network to cover the full 30MHz to 6GHz range. However, it's more common to select a band of interest and create your matching network for that.  For example, if an Rx port has a band of interest from 1.5GHz to 2GHz, then you would only need to create a matching network for that range.

More information on this is found in the 'RF PORT INTERFACE INFORMATION' section of the user guide including an impedance matching network example.

    Best Regards,

    Conrad
