On behalf of James Frame: The 188GG contains 2 green LEDs, has a filter over the photodiode, and the package is optimized for heart rate monitoring. The 188BI contains 1 blue and 1 IR LED, has no filter, and the package is optimized for smoke detection. The analog front end is the same in both cases (ADPD1080).
