Is there an advantage for analog or digital beamforming with respect to calibration?
Is there an advantage for analog or digital beamforming with respect to calibration?

It’s a good question and something we’re working to understand better internally. I think a lot depends on the performance goals of the radar and what is “good enough” for your needs. We’ve done work with our analog beamforming ICs that show a single point calibration for that individual IC is enough to calibrate it. That is, once you have the a certain point defined, the relative performance change from that point is very consistent. But in the end, I think it will come down to what level of accuracy is good enough. In comparing with Digital beamforming, I think it’s a similar story. I don’t have direct evidence if one is significantly harder than the other.
