Ship mode is a way to maintain battery freshness during storage/shipment (the device is still not in use). Sleep mode is a way to reduce power consumption while the system is in use, optimizing the battery usage by waking up periodically (only when needed) and return to standby mode while operating at the minimum power requirement.
