In what instance can we use PSRR, PSMR or both in designing an optimized power supply design for RF applications?

  • PSRR and PSMR are good rejection quantities that can be used to determine the allowable power supply noise. If both error spur and modulated spurs significantly affects the RF output quality, both PSRR and PSMR should be used. This are typically for RF carrier frequencies below 1 GHz but for higher frequencies where the Error spur is not significant, its PSMR that we use since modulated spurs are always corrupting the carrier signal quality
