Why can't we just use LDOs for everything?

Parents
  • Throwing LDO's as a "one size fits all" approach doesn't optimize the solution. It may work if the bus voltage is always higher than any signal chain supply, but it's inefficient, may not always attenuate frequencies in the band of interest, and won't work as a viable strategy if the bus voltage isn't higher than the highest supply rail, or negative voltages need to be created.
