Can the master device communicate with the remote slave device’s I2C port?

  • Yes! A2B extends the I2C capabilities of the host processor connected to the master transceiver. With simple I2C accesses, the host can access the master transceiver registers, all downstream slave transceiver registers, and any mapped I2C peripheral connected to the I2C port of any slave transceiver (e.g., EEPROM). The commands and data associated with remote accesses over the A2B bus are communicated in the downstream and upstream synchronization headers every superframe.
