Do you think north-seeking MEMS will be able to integrate with traditional systems?

It very much depends on the existing system interfaces and if the magnetic isolation. While the next generation of magnetometers may be smaller and MEMS based, it will still, most likely, be impacted by ferromagnetic influences when mounted.
