With more and more tx-rx integrated on a single IC, how do you maintain signal integrity on PCB?
On behalf of Mike Jones:
The pins for the transmitter and receiver paths on the bottom of the chip come out differentially. The location of these pins provides the user the ability to then route the signals through a balun to an antenna. Specific guidance regarding recommended board layout practices can be found in the ‘Board Layout Design Recommendations’ section of the AD9371 System Development User Guide (UG-992) and includes paying attention to power distribution and power ground returns, not running high-speed digital lines in close proximity to DC power distribution routes or RF line routes, and using microstrip or coplanar waveguides for transmission lines. In addition, careful analysis of your board impedance matching network from the antenna to the pins of the chip is required.
