Ultralow 1/f Noise Reference Buffer Simulation and Layout

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: LT3042

Hello, I'm an EE student working on my final project for my undergraduate degree and this is my first time on here.

Both the data sheets for the LT3042 and LTC6655-5 show this schematic and I think it's just perfect for combating drift problems and powering my 5V VCO. However, when I simulate this exact design in LTSpice the output of the LT3042 is 6 volts instead of 5. The output of the DC reference reads 5 exactly, but I don't think the LT3042 is sensing that on the sense pin. My VCO needs 50 mA to power so I placed an equivalent resistor that would draw 50 mA, but it's still 6V. I also tried limiting the current and my output remains the same. When I limit the current into the LT3042, the voltage begins to drop, but I believe I'm just getting too close to the dropout voltage. I'm understanding that the LTC6655-5 reference would provide the stable voltage, but I'm not seeing that result in the simulation.

Also, I cant seem to find any reference layouts for this design anywhere, only for the LT3042 (DC2246B) demo board and the LTC6655-5 eval board (DC2095A-C) separately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
