These 2 parts are very similar. The basic firmware should be good however you will have to just verify each configuration script you use from the ADV7341 data sheet. I wasn't able to find any 7311 -> 7341 specific conversion instructions.
Refer to the reference schematic for the 7341 (it's almost the same as the 7311). The ferrite beads in the power rails help with power supply noise coupling into the output.
In attempting to migrate from the ADV7301 to the ADV7341 please help me understand how to re-create the function of the subcarrier reset.
The need for a subcarrier phase reset was replaced with the subcarrier Frequency Lock mode as described on page 55 in the data sheet.
Our existing circuits employ the “reset” to reset the SC phase to zero or 180. The function of the SFL appears to change the SC frequency, not just the phase (please correct me if my interpretation is inaccurate).
Can the change in phase be accomplished with the SFL? Do I need to create a data stream of the same frequency with the desired phases? Do I need to employ a device such as the ADV7403 to generate the stream as described on page 55?
yes, SFL can change but it is intended to work tied to only ADI decoders like the ADV7180 or ADV7403. It provided an extra method to synchronize the color burst of these two parts. The ADV7341 does not need this extra synchronization.
we have modified an existing product formerly using the 7301 to accept the 7341 however now we have no chroma, luma, or burst. Please describe the changes, perhaps to registers, required to turn these "on".
Through a search of the register index, the the appropriate register was set to "enabled" which yielded positive results but it appears unstable. How can the stability be improved?
What did you enable?
Which script are you using to configure the part, preferably from something we released?
