Question about ADV7181D status register

Thread Summary

The user encountered issues with the ADV7181D, where only half the input image width was captured, and the auto-detection incorrectly identified an NTSC signal as PAL. The problem was partially resolved by adjusting VS/HS registers (0x31~0x37 and 0xE6), but the status registers still showed incorrect auto-detection and Fsc unlock. The support engineer recommended using the evaluation board and the standard script for auto-detection to further troubleshoot the issue.

I want to use ADV7181D to convert CVBS  to YUV.

ADV7181D is init with recommend settings from <ADV7181D_ADV7181D@_ADV7341-VER.1.0c.txt>.

Then only half width of the input image is captured from the output . And I got 0x49, 0xC0 and 0x2d from status register 1~3.

The input signal is recognized as PAL signal, While it is NTSC  actually, and Fsc Lock is 0.

I wonder what does Fsc stands for ? And what would cause auto detection failed?

  • Hi, Jeyasudha:

       Thank you for your reply.

No, I don't have any evaluation board on hand and did't have any try before...

I am debugging our STB which have ADV7181D chip on board.

If I set reg [0x07] = 0x02 to enable auto-detect NTSC only, then I got 0x09 0xc0 0x89 from status regs respectively. The color captured is same with the source in this situation, as the attached picture shows. but other problems is still there...

       Best Regards.
