Hello,
I have a question about XTAL of decoder devices.
My customer uses ADV7182.He ask a question about the XTAL circuit.
Question: Do you have your recommendation or guideline of "margin for oscillation stop" of the XTAL for decoder devices? If you have the information, please let me know.
Thank you!Best regards.
Hi Tamu,
The crystal manufacturer would usually give the required safety margin for their crystal.

Robert Hinchy
In a previous case a customer had an issue where the crystal would not oscillate at low temperatures. The customer choose the incorrect value for the external capacitors. We have a formula in the "load capacitance" section of apps note AN-1260 that describes how to select external capacitors.

Also the ADV7182 already has an internal resistor between XTALP and XTALN. Adding another external resistor only causes the ADV7182 to be less robust.
