Hello ADI Engineer,
We are currently designing a new product that uses the ADV7181C as an analog RGB video digitizer, including Sync-on-Green (SOG) input.
A few months ago, the ADV7181C was listed as “Production”, but we recently noticed that it is now marked as “Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND)”.
We would like to ask:
- Is there a recommended replacement for the ADV7181C that is currently recommended for new designs?
- Our main requirement is analog RGB input with Sync-on-Green (SOG) and digital RGB output to an FPGA. Which current ADI device would you recommend for this application?
- If there is currently no direct replacement for the ADV7181C, would you recommend using the ADV7181C or ADV7181D for a new design?
- Is the ADV7181D expected to have a longer product lifetime or better availability than the ADV7181C, or is it also considered unsuitable for a new long-term design?
- If both devices are now NRND, is there any newer ADI product that is intended to replace this family, particularly for RGB/SOG graphics digitization?
We have noticed that both the ADV7181C and ADV7181D are still available from various distributors and marketplaces, but we would prefer to base our design decision on ADI's recommended product lifecycle rather than current market availability.
Our priority is long-term production availability, especially for a new design.
Thank you for your advice.
