We are currently designing a new product that uses the ADV7181C as an analog RGB video digitizer, including Sync-on-Green (SOG) input.

A few months ago, the ADV7181C was listed as “Production”, but we recently noticed that it is now marked as “Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND)”.

We would like to ask:

  1. Is there a recommended replacement for the ADV7181C that is currently recommended for new designs?

    Thank you for your detailed response and for recommending the ADV7802/ADV7842 as replacements for the ADV7181C/ADV7181D.

    Before we proceed with the new design, we would like to better understand the expected product lifetime of the ADV7802 and ADV7842.

    Since our application is intended for long-term production, could you please advise:

    * How long is the ADV7802 & ADV7842 expected to remain in production?
    * Is there any expected risk of either device becoming NRND in the near or medium term?

    We understand that ADI may not be able to provide a guaranteed EOL date, but any guidance regarding the expected longevity or product lifecycle of these devices would be very helpful for our design decision.

    Our main concern is avoiding a situation where we redesign from the ADV7181C/ADV7181D to the ADV7802/ADV7842, only to have the replacement become NRND again after a relatively short period.
