ADV7611 with TP2915

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADV7611

We are using the ADV7611 together with the Techpoint TP2915 to convert an HDMI input to an AHD/TVI output. When configuring the ADV7611 using the script below, I noticed the following issues:

  • HDMI MAP (0x6A[4], tmds_clk_a_raw) → reading 0x00
  • IO MAP (0x6F[0]) → reading 0x01

I am setting the resolution to 1080p60 using the following register configuration:

98 FF 80 # I2C reset
98 FD 44 # CP
98 00 1E # VID_STD = 1080P60 @ 60Hz
98 01 05 # Prim_Mode = 101b HDMI-COMP
98 03 42 # 36-bit SDR 4:4:4 Mode 0
98 05 28 # AV Codes Off
98 0B 44 # Power up part
98 0C 42 # Power up part
98 14 7F # Max Drive Strength
98 15 80 # Disable Tristate
98 19 83 # LLC DLL phase
98 33 40 # LLC DLL enable

44 BA 01 # Set HDMI FreeRun
44 BF 17 # Force FreeRun; Manual color settings
44 C0 00 # Manual color: Green
44 C1 00 # Manual color: Red
44 C2 A0 # Manual color: Blue
44 C9 05 # Disable auto buffering of FreeRun parameters

The LLC clock is correctly running at 148.50 MHz, and I can see activity on the ADV7611 output bus. However, the video is not displayed on the TP2915 output.

What could be the reason for this issue?

  • Hi Poornima,

Thank you for the support provided so far.

We are still in the process of evaluating how best to use this device in our project. Our initial approach was to use the TP2915 evaluation board to stream video from HDMI to analog (HDMI → ADV7611 → TP2915 → analog display).
With this approach, we have tried multiple configurations, but unfortunately without success.
Given this, we would like to restart the evaluation with your guidance and support.
As discussed, our next step is to enable free‑run mode on the ADV7611, preferably with a custom solid color (other than the default blue). Successfully achieving this will give us confidence that the hardware path—from ADV7611 to TP2915 and finally to the display—is functioning correctly.

For your reference, we are using the TP2915 Evaluation Board, and the document “TP2915 Evaluation Board Manual R11.pdf” is attached in case it is helpful to understand the hardware setup we are working with.

Could you please guide us with the required register settings for both ADV7611 and TP2915 to enable free‑run mode with a custom color output?

We are also open to considering any alternative solution or approach that fits our requirements. We would really appreciate your support in all possible ways to help us get this interface working.

This evaluation is critical for us, as successfully demonstrating this interface will help us move forward with a new customer who has strong potential for future business.

    Looking forward to your guidance.

    Best regards,
