HDCP-Rx decoding function of ADV8005

Thread Summary

The user inquired about the HDCP-RX decoding capability of the ADV8005 on the EVAL-ADV8005 board. The final answer clarifies that the ADV8005 does not support HDCP decryption; instead, the ADV7625 handles HDCP 1.x decryption and provides the unencrypted HDMI signal to the ADV8005. The ADV8005 supports only HDCP encryption, not reception.

We purchased and evaluate EVAL_ADV8005. The EVAL_ADV8005 board includes the ADV7625 as a front chip.
We have a license for HDMI and we are evaluating it including HDCP.
We asked whether ADV8005 has the decoding function of HDCP-RX. I'd like to confirm.
If 4 K30Hz is not processed, is it possible to acquire HDCP content from the source by ADV8005 and decode it by Key of HDCP-RX?

  • Hello. The ADV7625 on the EVAL-ADV8005-SMZ can receive/decrypt an HDMI 1.4 signal encrypted with HDCP 1.x, but not HDCP 2.x.

The ADV8005 does not have the ability to decrypt HDCP, so we use the ADV7625 to receive/decrypt HDCP 1.x and provide the unencrypted HDMI signal to the ADV8005.

    I hope this helps!
