[ADV7480] Power Supply Constraints

Category: Datasheet/Specs

Hi,

Customer(quality department) has inquired about power supply constraints.

Are there any power supply constraints other than those listed in the data sheet?
- Rise and fall slew rates
- Ripple (Are there any constraints other than observing the recommended operating voltage?)
- Fluctuation
Are there any other constraints?

Could you please give me an answer on November 17th?

Best regards.

  • Hi,

Please find below response for your queries,

    - Rise and fall slew rates

I believe, Slew rate has not been defined for this part So As long as 1.8V supply does not exceed the 3.3V supply you will be safe.

    - Ripple (Are there any constraints other than observing the recommended operating voltage?)

          Please our expert comment below,

"We do not have specifications for power supply ripple".

We can offer our HDMI Rx Power Supply Design and Layout Recommendations (ADI HDMI Rx Power Supply Design and Layout Recommendations ). We generally encourage customers to ensure that sensitive supplies (e.g. CVDD) are individually filtered".

    Fluctuation

According to the datasheet, the device operates within certain voltage ranges, and the recommended power-down sequence generally involves a gradual reduction in voltage. If the 3.3V supply stagnating at an intermediate voltage, it may create conditions where the chip cannot safely transition to a powered-down state, potentially leading to failure in one of its power rail or logic circuits.

Note:  ADV7480 is generally designed to handle a smooth power-down process where the supply voltages, including 3.3V, decrease in a controlled manner.

As stated, Power supplies can damage ADV7480 part only when lower rated supply(1.8V) exceeds the higher rated supply(3.3V).
