1-bit-audio came in as an option to hdmi 1.2 (source Wikipedia) It was used on Super CDs that have 5.1 surround sound

Does the ADV7480 support this? The datasheet does not mention it.

Thanks!

  • Hi ,

I believe the ADV7480 does not support 1-bit audio input. We do not have any additional specifications beyond what is mentioned in the datasheet and related documentation. The device is designed to receive audio from HDMI or MHL sources and output it through standard interfaces such as I²S or TDM.

1-bit audio is a different standard and is not included among the ADV7480’s supported audio output formats. The chip extracts audio from the HDMI/MHL stream and outputs it through dedicated audio pins.

  • This would be one type of audio that comes in over hdmi as an input format. SA-CDs were the use-case for 1-bit-audio over hdmi. (Super Audio CDs with 5.1 audio) It was added as an option in hdmi 1.2 (source Wikipedia article about hdmi).

  • Hi,

Kindly note that, ADV748x does not have the provision to support DSD, but the ADV7619 and ADV784x parts can support DSD output. Please refer below ADV784x part snap for your reference,
