ADV8005 DDR2 Model Support List

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADV8005

Hi Team,

Could you please provide the Support List of DDR2? Customer wants to know if ADV8005 support "NANYA NT5TU64M16HG-AC" DDR2 memory.

An old EZ post has mentioned it but no answer. DDR2 memory selection for ADV8003 and ADV8005 - Q&A - Video - EngineerZone

Thanks.

  • Hi,

I believe, NANYA NT5TU64M16HG-AC DDR2 module could work with the ADV8005.

Please check the specifications of the NANYA NT5TU64M16HG-AC DDR2 memory and the general DDR2 requirements of the ADV8005, it could potentially work as an alternative memory module but the primary concern is ensuring that the memory's speed, voltage, and timing parameters align with the ADV8005’s requirements, which are typically listed in the reference materials.

As stated in referred thread, this need to be check with pin-to-pin compatibility between ADV8003 & "ETRON or NANYA" external memory chip.

Then by doing DDR loopback test, We came to know whether we can able to control external memory by using ADV8003 chip.

And the following are possible failures that could cause the DDR2 loopback test to fail:

    • Address or control or clock open or short: all bit lines failing

    • Single DQ open or short to ground or supply: single bit line failing on both positive and negative edges

    • Short between DQ lines: two bit lines failing, routing in adjacent resistors of resistor pack

    • DQS or DM open or short: eight DQ lines failing • Timing transfer problem: one or more bit lines failing.

    Thanks,

    Poornima

  • Hi,

Many thanks for the prompt reply.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Poornima,

Do you have other suggestion for the DDR2 ?

The MICRON MT47H64M16NF-25E has EOL Plan.

  • Hi,

The status (Product Life Cycle) of each product is available on its respective product page on analog.com.  For further information on Product Life Cycles, Monitoring Product Life Cycle Status and Obsolescence Information please see this page : www.analog.com/.../product-life-cycle-information.html

    Thanks,

  • Hi Poornima,

I mean do you have other suggestion for the DDR2 memory to work with ADV8005 since the EVK's DDR is going to EOL.

    Not ADV8005 EOL plan.

  • Hi,

As stated, the replacement DDR2 memory should meet the ADV8005’s required capacity, speed, voltage, and timing specifications and pin compatibility.

Then by doing DDR loopback test, We came to know whether we can able to control external memory by using ADV800x chip.

Kindly note that, The only specification details for the DDR2 interface of the ADV800x was designed and confirmed as being compliant to the JESD79-2F specification. On our evaluation board, we use the Micron part MT47H64M16HR-3 (http://www.micron.com/parts/dram/ddr2-sdram/mt47h64m16hr-3).

Given our experience with our DDR2 design (confirming its DDR2 compliance), we would recommend that you adopt our layout when completing your board.

    Thanks,

    Poornima
