External SDRAM requirement when input is HDMI

Category: Hardware
Product Number: adv7842

Hi,

We have HDMI/DVI input to the ADV7842 device in our application.

I understood that External SDRAM is required only in SDP Mode (Where TBC control needs external SDRAM),

Video data from the HDMI receiver will be routed to DDP and CP block, And we don't need external memory connected to ADV7842 in HDMI Mode.

Please confirm to me is my understanding is correct or not?

I appreciate your support!

Thanks and Regards,

Pavithra M

  • Hi,

Yes, If you don't use 3D comb or TBC feature then we don't need external SDRAM memory and also we can leave those registers as default.

Kindly note that, We only need SDRAM for two features: Time Base Correction and the 3D Comb Filter. These are generally only used with composite video (NTSC/PAL). Otherwise, SDRAM is not required.

    Thanks,

    Poornima
