AD8197 Eval Schematic and Large Array Questions

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD8197

Hi there,

I’m working on a design for a 36:1 HDMI switcher and am considering using the AD8197 chip. From my understanding after talking with technical support, evaluation boards for this device were designed but never sold. If possible, could you share the schematic and layout of the evaluation board? This would be incredibly helpful in guiding my implementation.

Additionally, I’d like to ask for your recommendation on the best approach for maintaining signal integrity in this design. Specifically, I’m debating between two methods as defined on this post:

  1. Wire-OR Configuration: Combining the outputs of multiple AD8197 chips and using their high-impedance states to avoid signal contention.
  2. Cascading Chips: Using multiple AD8197 devices to select between groups of inputs, then routing these groups through additional stages to achieve the 36:1 configuration.

Given that the input termination feature of the AD8197 improves signal integrity by absorbing reflections, would you recommend any components to preserve signal quality in such a large array network? I would greatly appreciate any guidance or insights you can provide on the best approach for maintaining robust signal performance in this setup!

Thanks,

Andrew
