In what format are embedded syncs in ADV7280?

A TI TVP5150 video decoder user is having following problem – STM32F4 has camera interface (called DCIM) that can be used with video decoder ICs, but it expects that the SAV/EAV embedded syncs will be arranged like following:

... [FEC]...(frame enddelimiter)

line n+0: [SAV] [active video data] [EAV] [horizontal blanking]

line n+1: [SAV] [active video data] [EAV] [horizontal blanking]

line n+2: [SAV] [active video data] [EAV] [horizontal blanking]

However TVP5150 arranges them like following:

... [FEC]...

line n+0: [EAV] horizontal blanking] [SAV] [active video data]

line n+1: [EAV] horizontal blanking] [SAV] [active video data]

line n+2: [EAV] horizontal blanking] [SAV] [active video data]

I wonder, could I have similar problem with my IC of choice – ADV7280?

DCIM expects 8-10 bit input, pins match perfectly the IC pixel port, the question is about format of the SAV/EAV codes.

Best regards,

Sebastian

  • Hi,

Do you have one of our evaluation boards for ADV7280?

We recommend that customers who are evaluating ADV7280/ADV7280-M purchase an evaluation board.

Did you review the hardware manual and the recommended scripts? These files are available on the design support files page here ADV7280 / ADV7280-M Design Support Files.

I could see some scripts for SAV/EAV and please check whether this would help you

  • Hello

I cannot afford evaluation board however I've chosen 7280 because of very low pin count (32) and expected ease of powering up (2 voltages) and connecting. I use schematics of evaluation board to design my PCB. It looks fairly simple as expected, hope I succeed. Any tips are welcomed.

It turned out that the person who I was citing was wrong, the TVP5150 output is correct, conforms to standard, and ADV7280 should have the same output. He must have misconfigured something.

    Best regards,

    Sebastian
