ADV7842 vs ADV7482

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADV7842

Hello i have been looking for "the best chip" for decoding CVBS and i see that the adv7482 seem to be the most modern chip with 3d feature and tbc but it is in the production status , and it seem the older adv7842/adv7844 is higher end and still recommanded for new design so what im asking is : is there a difference in y/c separation  and decoding of cvbs between those 2 chip ? also what make the 78 series higher end other than the 12 bit processing. does the 7482 have newer better sd video feature ? by the is there any plan for a newer high end chip like maybe an 7882 ?

Thanks for helping me.

  • Hi,

      Please find the below comment,

Is there a difference in y/c separation  and decoding of cvbs between those 2 chip ?

No, Both parts can do same performance and there is no difference in y/c separation between ADV7482 and ADV7842 . Both has a five-line adaptive 2D comb filter that provides superior chrominance and luminance separation when decoding a composite video signal.

Below are the feature difference between ADV7842 and ADV7482 parts,
    1. ADV7842 has 225 MHz HDMI receiver and ADV7482 has 162MHz.
    2. ADV7842 supports four 170 MHz, NSV, 12-bit ADCs that enable true 12-bit video decoding and ADV7482 supports A single 172 MHz, 10-bit ADC that enables true 8-bit video decoding.
    3. The ADV7842 incorporates XpressviewTm fast switching on both input HDMI ports. Using the Analog Devices, Inc., hardware based HDCP engine that minimizes software overhead, Xpress view technology allows fast switching between any HDMI input ports in less than 1 second.
    4. ADV7842 includes 3D format support, Time based correction (TBC).

Is there any plan for a newer high end chip like maybe an 7882 ?

Any discontinued or Obsolete ADI products should be purchased exclusively from ADI-Authorized Distributor Rochester Electronics. Until Please check our ADV7844 part at ADV7844 Datasheet and Product Info | Analog Devices
