Support on EVAL-ADV7282M

Hi,

We are in studying phase EVAL-ADV7282AMEBZ. I am using EVAL-ADV7282AMEBZ to check/evaluate the display for our camera module (reverse camera). But, I have difficulties in using the DVP EVAL Software.  Our camera has a CVBS output and we are using laptop as our display. I've connected CVBS cable to our camera using Ain1.   

Refer below for the connection.

  

Question:  

1. Is EVAL-ADV7282AMEBZ can act as a video converter/ frame grabber?

2. How to display the image from our camera to laptop using EVAL-ADV7282AMEBZ?

3. Does the software can help increase the resolution of the image?

    Please find the below comments,

    1. Is EVAL-ADV7282AMEBZ can act as a video converter/ frame grabber ?

             ADV7282-M does not adjust the video frame and it doesn't act as a video convertor. It digitizes the full video signal and outputs it in standard output timing. But in the case of the ADV7282-M, It convert it from interlaces to progressive and then provides it as a MIPI signal.

    2. Does the software can help increase the resolution of the image?  

          None of our video parts can support scaling other than ADV800x.

          The output timing of the MIPI CSI-2 parts (ADV7280-M, ADV7281-M, ADV7281-MA, ADV7282-M) cannot be modified.

      Also, In order to overcome the difficulties of DVP software, Please confirm with below things,

    1) Which operating system are you using? Refer this FAQ to know about the DVP eval software limitation at DVP Evaluation Software

    2) At the bottom of the DVP eval latest source window, there should be a green circle with the words 'board connected' next to it.

        If you see the words 'OK' next to the green circle then it shows that DVP eval latest source is able to detect the      presence of the external evaluation board but it cannot load the ADV7280 board files.

    3)  Can you ensure that you have installed the DVP eval latest source into the 'Documents' folder. Installing DVP eval      latest source in the 'Program Files' directory will cause issues.

    4) Can you go to :

        C:\Users\YOUR_USER_NAME\Documents\Analog Devices\DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11\xml\New      Boards\Recent Boards Added\ADV7280_CUST

        This folder should contain:

    •     ADV7280_Cust.XML
    •     ADV7391.xml
    •     board_info.txt
    •     A folder called Scripts

        If any/all of these files/folders are missing then this shows that the DVP eval latest source has been unable to install         the design support files.

    You can fix this issue by:

    1) Disconnect your computer from your company's network. This should prevent the Backup Agent interfering with the  DVP eval latest source.

    2) Right clicking on the DVP eval latest source icon on your desktop. Select Run as Administrator.

    3) Please trying re-installing the ADV7280 support files as described in the "ADV7280 installation guide Rev A.pdf".

    Also, Please note that when you order EVAL-ADV7282-M eval board, you would receive a piece of paper explaining about how to log in to our FTP site and downloading the register control software for this board.
     In this pdf they have provided the details of downloading and installing the DVP Eval software,
    Also Please install file zilla from https://filezilla-project.org/FileZilla - The free FTP solution at https://filezilla-project.

        It means that, We can support interlaced to progressive(I2P) output over MIPI interface other than transmitting the digital data over MIPI .

    2. How to use ADV7282-M with our camera to display the image on laptop? Can ADV7282M improve quality of the image?

         In order to improve the image quality, ADV728x contain lot of filtering registers like Chroma filter, Luma Filter, Chroma Transient Improvement, Digital Noise Reduction and Luma Peaking Filter and Comb filter.

          Please check Chroma filter, Luma Filter, Chroma Transient Improvement, Digital Noise Reduction and Luma Peaking Filter, and Comb filter sections in the ADV728x hardware manual. 

    3. Are MIPI CSI-2 Tx analyzer and SMA cable should be use?

     For our MIPI evaluation, We used MIPI reference termination board available from at https://www.iol.unh.edu/solutions/test-tools/mipi

    Also kindly refer "Design Considerations for Connecting Analog Devices MIPI CSI-2 Transmitter to MIPI CSI-2 Receiver .These details are provided by expert in AN-1337 - https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/application-notes/AN-1337.pdf

    ADV728x can connect below camera input, Please refer ADV728x specifications for more details

                    PAL B/G/H/I/D/N/M
                    PAL Combination N
                    PAL 60
                    NTSC M/J/4.43
                    SECAM
    However if this camera module is outputting a custom standard with non-standard line length then the ADV728x will not be able to lock to this video format.

    Note: ADV728x has standard definition processor (SDP) and It automatically detect standard analog baseband video signals compatible with worldwide NTSC, PAL, and SECAM standards in the form of composite, S-Video, and component video.
    Please note that "I2P works by 'line-doubling' i.e. outputting the same line twice and doubling the MIPI CSI-2 clock speed".
    In Interlaced mode the ADV7282-M outputs with a 216 Mbps data rate (MIPI clock frequency 108 MHz).
    In Progressive mode (i.e. I2P mode Enabled) the ADV7282-M outputs a 432 Mbps data rate (MIPI clock frequency 216 MHz).

      Camera output should compatible with Eval ADV728x input port. Please refer below snap,

       EVAL-ADV7282MEBZ is an evaluation board for the ADV7282-M. Analog video is fed into the Video Inputs (Ain1 to Ain6). The EVAL-ADV7282MEBZ can receive analog video in a variety of formats.

    EVAL-ADV7282MEBZ converts analog video into an MIPI® CSI-2 output (8-bit YCrCb 4:2:2).

    MIPI® CSI-2 output of the consists of one differential data lane (D0+ and D0-) and one differential clock lane (Clk+ and Clk-). These are output to the SMA connectors on the EVAL-ADV7282MEBZ.

         Here we don't have ADV7282 eval board so we have not tried this scenario. Kindly check it from your end and let us know your observation on this.

    Note: MIPI CSI is typically used for camera modules and is not directly compatible with standard laptop interfaces. It transmits data in a high-speed serial format designed for mobile devices.

     MIPI CSI is a high-speed interface designed for use in embedded systems and mobile devices, so integrating it with a standard laptop can be technically challenging and might require specialized hardware and software.

     2. How to overcome below error on the software?

    Is there any hardware/device we can use to convert MIPI(EVAL-ADV7282MEBZ) to USB(laptop/PC)?
