Hsync and Vsync synchronizations

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADV7125

Hi,

With continuation of previous question modifications.

we have added D  flip-flops for 1 cycle delay purpose so that, the RGB and Hsync and Vsync signals will synchronize. as shown in the figure.

so the questions is, can the proper synchronization will happen if we use D flip-flop for Hsync and Vsync signals.

second thing, the DRDY signal is use for data enable only so is it right to connect it to BLANK signal.

Regards,

Sanjay

  • Hi,

If you desire to provide SYNC separately from reference signal, placing a flip-flop retimer circuit to align SYNC signals to reference signals to avoid setup and hold time violations is recommended. Placing D-Flipflop can synchronize RGB with sync signals.
Video Blanking signals are the inverse of Data Enable (DE) signals. Hence, we shouldn't connect blanking and data enable.

  • Hi,

As far as data enable and Blank signal connection is concern, we are inverting the data enable signal using digital inverter and then giving it to blank signal of IC ADV7125.

So in this way will it work.

  • Hi,

If you invert the Data Enable (DE) signal using a digital inverter, it means that the DE signal will transition between high and low states oppositely to its original state. Inverting the DE signal can have various purposes in display systems. Make sure to verify the timing and polarity requirements of your display system to ensure proper operation after inverting the DE signal.

The ADV7125 only outputs what is on the input. It does not change any of the timing.

Please check the clock, sync and blank signals with a scope to make sure they match the requirements of the display. Tweak the timing parameters as needed in your code or source. Then check a color bar source to make sure the colors are going through correctly.
