Country of Origin Marking, variation in the location.

Question

Is it typical to have a variation in the location of the Country of Origin Markings? 
 I&acute;m looking at Max3845 where some parts have the CoO located next to the pin 1 indicator and others have this mark on the opposite side. 
 Is this a typical variation in the process of creating these marks?
