ADV7611W ; Fix output format to YUV601 or 709

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADV7611

Hi

Could I know is there is a control to fix output format to YUV601 or 709?

IO Map 0x02 IO_REG_02.INP_COLOR_SPACE[3:] is not for the output format control?

Regards,

Tomoto

  • Hi Tomoto San,

According to our required colors pace, the user as to program the input color space and the output color space for the correct operation of the CSC In automatic mode,.

When CSC_COEFF_SEL[3:0] is set to 0b1111, the CSC mode is automatically selected, based on the input color space and output color space required and set through the following registers.

    • INP_COLOR_SPACE [3:0]
    • RGB_OUT
    • ALT_GAMMA

The CP color space conversion is dependent on "RGB_OUT, INP_COLOR_SPACE, ALT_GAMMA".

To confirm, then make use of below register for readback w.r.t CP CSC conversion.

    Thanks,

    Poornima

  • Thanks Poornima-san,

In case INP_COLOR_SPACE[3:0] is set to 0b1111(default auto) and Pixel Port Outout Mode is set 4:2:2, CSC input would be YUV 601 or YUV 709.

To fix CSC output format one from YVU601 or YVU 709, HDMI Rx needs negotiation with HDMI Tx to provide expected data fromat(SD or HD) via EDID?

    Regards,

    Tomoto

  • Hi Tomoto San,

YES, Via EDID only Source device will uses the information to optimize the Video/ Audio output data.

Please note that, Using consumer electronic equipment(Player) or PCs as an HDMI audio/video source can be very difficult since their functionality depends on their settings as well as the HDMI receiver's EDID (Generally these device do not work unless they see a valid EDID output ).

For this reason, We suggest that customers use a DVI/HDMI generator (such as Quantum Data/Astro) in order to test digital audio over HDMI. Please refer below link regarding ASTRO equipment,
