Console error when running "DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11" [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '.\\xml\\ADV7280\\BD-SL-IMX6\\SOFTWARE\\ADV7280_CUST_stub.xml'

Category: Software
Product Number: eval-adv7281amebz ad7280 eval board
Software Version: Oct 2011

DVP Eval program when updating boards displays an OK dialog but the console shows

[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '.\\xml\\ADV7280\\BD-SL-IMX6\\SOFTWARE\\ADV7280_CUST_stub.xml'

I have uninstalled, reinstalled the software and rebooted machine. I've tried running as administrator. How do I generate or locate the ADV7280_CUST_stub.xml file?

  • Hi,

Download the 'DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11' and add the ADV7281-M board files. The document 'ADV7281-M Installation guide Rev A.pdf' describes how to do this. It is available here at: https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-10649

It Seems some of the ADV7280 board files were not installed correctly.

Kindly un-install the ADV7280 board files from DVP eval latest source and try again.

How to uninstall the ADV7280 board files:

    1) Open DVP Eval Latest Source.

    2) Press Scritps -> Run Py Scritps

    3) In the window that opens, scroll down to the bottom and select RemoveBoards.py

    4) Press Open

    5) The Remove Boards window will now appear.

    6) Press Refresh Board List and then select the ADV7280_CUST.

    7) Press 'Delete Selected Boards'.

    •      Also delete ADV7280_CUST_STUB if it appears in the list of Boards.

    8) Go to "C:\Users\jfix\Documents\Analog Devices\DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11\xml\New Boards\Recent Boards Added\". Delete the folder ADV7280_CUST.

    •      Also delete ADV7280_CUST_STUB if it exists.

    9) Go to "C:\Users\jfix\Documents\Analog Devices\DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11\scripts". Delete the folder ADV7280_CUST and ADV7280_CUST_STUB if they exist.

How to re-install the board files:

    1) Use Filezilla to go to the FTP site.

    2) Go to the folder ADV7280 -> Software.

    3) Copy the folder ADV7280_CUST to your computer's desktop.

    4) When download is complete copy the folder to the location:

         C:\Users\jfix\Documents\Analog Devices\DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11\xml\New Boards

    5) Open DVP Eval Latest Source

    6) Select File -> Update Boards

I would like to make sure that the board is not the source of the problem.

Please do not connect the USB cable to the evaluation board.

    7) Press Choose Board and select ADV7280_CUST.

    8) Wait for the board files to load. Note with the board disconnected this can take upto 5 minutes.

    9) After the board files load, the bottom of DVP EVAL window should say 'Board Disconnected' next to a red circle.

    10) Power up the ADV7280 evaluation board and connect the USB cable from the ADV7280 evaluation board to the PC.

    11) Press 'Hardware Reset'. The bottom of DVP EVAL window should now say 'Board Connected' next to a green circle. It should now be possible to program the ADV7280 evaluation board.

Please refer this FAQ, to know about the DVP eval software limitation at (+) DVP Evaluation Software - Documents - Video - EngineerZone (analog.com) ?

Note: Please confirm with following steps,

Copy the folder called 'ADV7280_CUST' to the location:
         C:\Users\USER_NAME\Documents\Analog Devices\DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11\xml\New Boards\
If you place the folder in any other location, then the DVP Eval Latest source will not detect the new board files.
Example - Do not place the 'ADV7280_CUST' folder in the location:
         C:\Users\rhinchy\Documents\Analog Devices\DVP Eval Latest Source 10-14-11\xml\New Boards\Recent Boards      Added

Could you please check that the 'ADV7280_Cust' folder downloaded correctly from the FTP site. The 'ADV7280_Cust' folder should contain:
                 ADV7280_Cust.xml
                 ADV7391.xml
                 board_info.txt
A folder called 'Scripts'. The 'Scripts' folder contains a text file called ADV7280_CUST-VER.4.4.txt

    Thanks,

    Poornima

  • Having no luck.

Here is what the dir stucture of  ADV7280_CUST  looks like

    C:\Users\rphelps\OneDrive\Desktop\ADV7280\BD-SL-iMX6\Software\ADV7280_CUST\Scripts

AD7280_CUST has one dir - "Scripts" and scripts has one file ADV7280_CUST_VER.4.5.txt

Just Noticed that the ADV728-M dir has what you want me to download.  I'll give this a try

  • No Luck

The Console shows this when I choose file->update boards

    ('.\\xml\\New Boards', ['ADV7280-M'], [])

('.\\xml\\New Boards\\ADV7280-M', ['Software for RevA evaluation board (U3 silicon)'], ['ADV7280-M installation guide Rev A.pdf', 'Links to additional Documenation.docx'])

    ('.\\xml\\New Boards\\ADV7280-M\\Software for RevA evaluation board (U3 silicon)', ['ADV7280M_CUST'], [])

    ('.\\xml\\New Boards\\ADV7280-M\\Software for RevA evaluation board (U3 silicon)\\ADV7280M_CUST', ['Scripts'], ['ADV7280M_Cust.xml', 'board_info.txt'])

[Errno 2] No such file or directory: '.\\xml\\ADV7280-M\\SOFTWARE FOR REVA EVALUATION BOARD (U3 SILICON)\\ADV7280M_CUST_stub.xml'

Choose Board  dialog shows "none "  for RX.

  • Finally got it I had to download the ADV7280-M directory and move the dir ADV7280_CUST in the

Software for RevA evaluation board (U3 silicon) directory to New Boards.

File -> update boards worked and Choose Board shows  ADM7280M in RX window

  • One other thing.

ADV7931.xml does not exist in AD7280M_CUST dir.

Also renamed dir path to AD7280\Software\adv7280\

  • Have board up and running with connection.  Thanks for the Help

  • QUESTION:

The installation instructions are for the ADV7280 and states NOT to download the ADV7280-M folder, but that is how I got this working - I down loaded the
    ADV7280-M folder.

Since the Board is an ADV7281  shouldn't I also download the ADV7281-M folder and possibly the ADV7282-M folder?

    Ron

  • Hi,

Please note ADV7282A-M,ADV7281A-M are same die so you can use the script ADV7282-M script for ADV7281-M, but features may differ for different chipset in same family.

And below are the difference between ADV728x part.

    Thanks,

    Poornima
