Difference of HDCP version between ADV7511 and ADV7511W.

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADV7511, ADV7511W

Hi,

I have questions about difference of HDCP version between ADV7511 and ADV7511W.

ADV7511 datasheet says "Compatible with HDCP 1.4."
www.analog.com/.../ADV7511.pdf

Also, ADV7511W datasheet says "Compatible with HDCP v1.3."
www.analog.com/.../ADV7511W.pdf

Questions:
Why is the HDCP version different between ADV7511 and ADV7511W?
Why does the ADV7511W only support up to HDCP 1.3?

Thank you!
Best regards.
Tamu

  • Hi Tamu-San,

It seems there was a typo in 'ADV7511W' datasheet, "ADV7511W is HDMI 1.4 compliant".

Please refer expert comment here  RE: ADV7511W HDCP rev.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Poornima-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

I mention not "HDMI" version but "HDCP" version.
    I think these are different.
    ADV7511W supports HDMI 1.4, but that doesn't mean ADV7511W supports HDCP 1.4.
As I mention as previous comment, ADV7511W datasheet says "Compatible with HDCP v1.3." .

    Questions:
Why is the HDCP version different between ADV7511 and ADV7511W?
Why does the ADV7511W only support up to HDCP 1.3?

Do you mean that "Compatible with HDCP v1.3." is a typo in 'ADV7511W' datasheet?
    Does ADV7511W support HDCP 1.4?
If so, could you fix the typo in 'ADV7511W' datasheet?

    Thank you!
    Best regards.

  • Hi Tamu San,

ADV7511W support HDMI1.4 means then it will support HDCP1.4 too.

Please let us know, Are you facing any issue with HDCP1.4 source ?

If so, could you fix the typo in 'ADV7511W' datasheet?

This need to be done by part specialist.

    Thanks,

    Poornima

  • Hi Poornima-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

    >Please let us know, Are you facing any issue with HDCP1.4 source ?
=> My customer is going to use ADV7511W for their HDMI source system now.
The display which is connected to the source system supports HDCP1.4.
And he has already known ADV7511(without "W") supports HDCP 1.4. And he just know ADV7511W only support up to HDCP 1.3 at this time.
So the customer asks us why ADV7511W only support up to HDCP 1.3.

    >>If so, could you fix the typo in 'ADV7511W' datasheet?
    > This need to be done by part specialist.
    =>Thank you !
When will the part specialist fix the typo?
If I tell your plan to fix the typo, I think the customer will be convinced and satisfied.

    Thank you!
    Best regards.

  • Hi Poornima-san,

I investigated the differences between HDCP1.3 and HDCP1.4.
And I found the difference is "HDCP_HPD".
There is a description on "HDCP1.4" specification as follows:

("HDCP1.3" specification does not have this description.)

So I think that ADV7511W does not support the "HDCP_HPD" and I think ADV7511(without "W") supports the "HDCP_HPD".
    Is this right?

ADV7511(without "W") has "HEAC-" pin (51pin). ADV7511W does not have "HEAC-" pin.
    ADV7511(without "W") is mounted on EVAL-ADV748xEBZ.
    ez.analog.com/.../1106.ADV748x_5F00_Evaluation_5F00_Board_5F00_Documents.zip
And both "HEAC-" pin and HPD pin (30pin) are connected to HPD of the HDMI connector on EVAL-ADV748xEBZ.
    Please see follows:

So I think ADV7511(without "W") supports ARC and the "HDCP_HPD" and I think ADV7511W does not support them.
    Is this right?

    Thank you!
    Best regards.
    Tamu

  • Hi Tamu San,

YES, ADV7511W doesn't support ARC and also as you mentioned we couldn't find "HDCP_HPD" signaling in HDCP1.3 Specification.

Below are the difference between ADV7511  & ADV7511W.

    Thanks,
