ADV7390_MIPI or Parallel RGB to RS-170 signal

Hi,

ADV739x can support RS-170 NTSC video output. Please try setting the SD Burst and SD Chroma =1 for disabling the color burst. Since it is an NTSC without color.

Please note ADV739x DAC will not receive MIPI signal but it will accept parallel RGB signal.

1. Can ADV7390 use the 8080 interface,  DPI parallel RGB signal  and OLDI interface at teh input signal?

2. ADV7390 is not recommended for new design according to the Web. Do you have any replacemnet or recommended parts?

          ADV739x can support parallel RGB signal but it will not accept OLDI(LVDS) interface input signal.

         Please choose the part from video product page according to your requirement.

         Yes, ADV739x is "Not Recommended for New Designs". Depending on the functionality that the customer is needing, we can consider by using ADV734x instead.

       Yes, It can support  TTL data of  24-BIT/ 36-BIT/ 48-BIT VIDEO INPUT  Please refer here https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ADV8005.pdf

       Yes, It can support RS-170 video output. Please try setting the SD Burst and SD Chroma =1 for disabling the color burst. Since it is an NTSC without color.

     BURST_CONTROL(0xE484)  -  This bit is used to enable the SD burst test pattern.           1 - Disabled,  0 - Enabled.
    CHROMA_CONTROL(0xE484) -  This bit is used to control SD chroma. 0 - Chroma enabled, 1 - Chroma disabled.

The recommended ADV8005 is a product with too high specification.

Customer is looking for a video encoder that has only the features as below.

- Receiving the parallel RGB signal.

- supporting the RS-170 output.

How about the AD723, AD724,AD725?

The ADV739x family can support parallel RGB signal and RS-170 output.

Although they are not recommended for new designs they are still in production and will be as long as the parts have sales and fab. lines are available.  For this application there is no direct low cost replacement.  Please review https://www.analog.com/en/support/customer-service-resources/sales/product-life-cycle-information.html to understand where is part fits on the life cycle curve.  Last time buy notices are given out long before production stops so you can buy sufficient qualities to meet your estimated product life build out.

In general the industry is moving away from analog video and going fully digital.
