Looking for alternate Part: AD9888

  ADV7842 would be an replacement part for AD9888.

  ADV7842 can support Analog as well HDMI input & also it can meet your requirement (Digitizes RGB graphics up to 1600 × 1200 at 60 Hz (UXGA) )

  There are no design support files page for AD9888, All the docs available for that part are on the product page.  Support is pretty limited for this part.

Thanks for suggestion. Looks ADV7842 is suitable for AD9888 replacement. My application only going to convert VGA input to digital 24-bit YCbCr/RGB. It does not going to use HDMI or other analog signals. Neither it is going to 3D comb filter. I am not sure about frame synchronizer, But I know any video processing is not required.

In this case, is it required to connect SDRAM or DDR with ADV7842? It these memory connections are optional or must required if we use ADV7842 ???

Hi,

  ADV7842 only needs external SDRAM if you are using Time Base Correction (TBC) or/and 3D Comb filters for CVBS video going through the Standard Definition processor.  All other features are operational without SDRAM

  Please note we can use SDRAM for below two features:

         Time Base Correction and the 3D Comb Filter. These are generally only used with composite NTSC/PAL. Otherwise you don't need SDRAM.
