Looking for alternate Part: AD9888

Thread Summary

The user is seeking a replacement for the AD9888 in a KVM-Over-IP product, requiring VGA analog input support up to 1600x1200@60Hz. The ADV7842 is recommended as an alternative, which supports the required resolution and does not need external SDRAM for features not used (e.g., Time Base Correction, 3D Comb Filter). The user also inquired about a suitable CPU to process the 24-bit RGB digital output from the ADV7842, and was directed to check the Processor or Microcontroller forum for recommendations.

Hi Analog team,

I am redesign one of KVM-Over-IP product, where AD9888 was used.

Now AD9888 is not recommend to use in new design. So I am looking for alternate part number which supports VGA analog input. Supported maximum resolution 1600x1200@60Hz is fine.

I am also looking for CPU which takes 24-bit RGB digital input, process video internal and send video encoded packets over ethernet.

I am looking for very application specific A/D video converters and CPU.

Has analog also CPU which supports 2D videos? Please suggest pair for both.

  • Hi,

ADV7842 only needs external SDRAM if you are using Time Base Correction (TBC) or/and 3D Comb filters for CVBS video going through the Standard Definition processor.  All other features are operational without SDRAM

Please note we can use SDRAM for below two features:

Time Base Correction and the 3D Comb Filter. These are generally only used with composite NTSC/PAL. Otherwise you don't need SDRAM.

    Thanks,

    Poornima
