Audio reference schematics for ADV7511 and ADV7611

Hi,

I will be using ADV7511W and ADV7611 IC for HDMI interface and also audio over HDMI. Kindly confirm that is IC supports audio over HDMI and kindly share reference schematics for both the ICs if any.

    Hi,

       Yes, this two(ADV7611/ADV7511) IC's can support audio over HDMI , Since this two IC's has HDMI port so it has the capability to support Audio/Video content.

    Thank you for your response.

    I will be using I2S audio interface for Audio over HDMI in ADV7511. I have below queries.

    1. As I will be using I2S interface, whether the SPDIF pin should be grounded.

    2. The reference schematics just show a direct connection of these I2S lines to a connector. So no specific termination is required for I2S signals?

    3. In normal I2S mode, the ADV7511 can support 24bits/sample. Is it correct. And MCLK is optional

     Please find my below comments,

     1. As I will be using I2S interface, whether the SPDIF pin should be grounded.

              Yes, If you are not using the SPDIF pin then you connect the unused SPDIF pin to ground.

    SPDIF pin have the capability to carry the compressed audio including dolby digital,DTS and THX.
    Also it can support stereo LPCM or compressed audio upto 192khz. if you want to support this features then you can use SPDIF pin.

            Yes,As per reference schematic there is no specific termination required for I2S lines.

    3. In normal I2S mode, the ADV7511 can support 24bits/sample. Is it correct. And MCLK is optional

            Yes, You can support 24 bits/sample in normal I2S mode by using 0x14 register. Please refer 6064.ADV7511W_Programming_Guide.pdf

            MCLK signal is optional unless specifically listed in Table 11 and for some audio packets MCLK is must, So Please refer Table11 in ADV7511W hardware user guide.

  • Hi Poornima,

    I will be using ADV7511W and ADV7611 for HDMI input and output to support below resolution requirements using 16bit data lines.

    Both input and output should support 720p 50/59.94/60Hz, 1080p 50/59.94/60Hz resolution and frame rate.

    Can you please confirm both the ICs can support mentioned resolution with different frame rates mentioned above using 16bit data lines

    Hi,

      ADV7611 can support maximum TMDS clock upto 225 MHZ, it can support video format till that clock rate, So it will support below input and output,

       720p 50/59.94/60 Hz - 8/10/12/16 bit.

       1080p@ 50/59.94/60Hz - 8/10/12 bit color depth.

       But it will not support 1080p 50/59.94/60Hz in 16 bit deep color.

     ADV7511W can support maximum TMDS clock upto 165Mhz, So it will support below input and output

       720p 50/59.94/60 Hz  -  8/10/12/16 bit.

       1080p 50/59.94/60Hz - 8 bit.

    Please let me know for any clarification.
