Do you have an answer on this question? I'm looking for a way to convert cvbs signal to parallel RGB565 for a small display of 320x240 pixels. Is the ADV7186 capable of doing this?

Hi,

As per the FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAM of ADV7186 it can support cvbs input and it will output with 24 bit RGB

Please find the below expert comments about for PAL to an RGB565

There are several ways to do this.

1) Use a YUV decoder like the ADV7280 and a CPLD on the output for color space conversion

2) Use a part like the ADV7842 and configure it's SDP Color Space Converter for YUV -> RGB

In both cases only use the high 5,6,5 bits from the RGB888 output"

NOTE: RGB565 is used to represent colours in 16 bits, rather than the 24bit (RGB888). RGB565 data is made up of RED (R = 5bits), GREEN (G = 6 bits), BLUE (B = 5 bits) to give overall 16 bits of digital inputs.

What do you mean by "FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAM"? So I can use the ADV7186 for this purpose? And is the 24-bit RGB in parallel? So RGB888 then?

I'm trying to obtain a proper datasheet for the ADV7186 from my local sales, however no datasheet so far....

    ADV7186 will support 24-bit RGB in parallel/RGB888.
