Can ADV7441A_AD9388A support 720P@30Hz DVI input

Hi Video AE

Our customer Hik want to update their video reciever product, which integrate AD9388, to support 720P@30Hz DVI input.

When customer set below registers as "ADV7441A_AD9388A_Setting_Recommendations_RevM.pdf" 2.3.2 requirement

After writing these registers, customer read back to check. customer found that, 0x06[7:5] returns right value. 3'b010.

But, 0xB7[6] returns wrong value 1'b0. customer read back 0xB7,User Map, it return 0x00.

We din't find the description about  0xB7, User Map, cp_i2c_vsync_id_range in AD9388A_SW_RevC.pdf.

Questions are as below:

Can customer write 0xB7?

Could you share the description about 0xB7 in detal?

Do you have recommend setting list for 720P@30Hz HDMI/DVI input?

Thank you very much

Wayne

  • Hi,

ADV7441A_AD9388A ,this part is not recommended for new designs so we cannot provide support beyond existing documentation and existing Engineer Zone posts.

cp_i2c_vsync_id_range is a write only register with default value as  0x13. So while reading the 0xB7 register, it will retain the default value '0' for 6th bit.

Please refer section 2.3.7 in 'ADV7441A_AD9388A_Setting_Recommendations_Rev M.pdf' which is available at AD9388A Design Support Files

    Thanks,
    Poornima

  • Hi Roomima

Thank you very much for your replaying for this questions. This information, "cp_i2c_vsync_id_range is a write only register ", is very usefull for our customer.

This project is not a new design project. Customer only want to update their current MP products, in which, AD9388 is used. So, they only update the software for this product to support 1280x720P@30Hz.

As you mentioned, customer should refer "2.3.7. Outputting CEA-861 Compliant Synchronization" in 'ADV7441A_AD9388A_Setting_Recommendations_Rev M.pdf' . you mean to set User Map, Reg 0xB7[3] to 1 for Vsync output.

in" 2.3.7.2. HS Signal" ,below registers configuration are recommeded for 720x480p. What's the recommeded setting for 1280x720P@30Hz ?

Set the fields END_HS[9:0] and START_HS[9:0]

    Set END_HS[9:0] to 0x3FD

    Set START_HS[9:0] to 0x3FE
