Need HDMI licence to buy ADV7613 ?

Hi,

The -P in the part number indicates the device does not have an HDCP key,So HDCP license is not required.
You only need a license, if you buy keyed parts and it can can decrypt HDCP protected sources

ADV7613WBBCZ-P does not contain HDCP keys.

ADV7613 contains internal HDCP keys.

First of all thank you for your fast answer Mr. Poornima but my question was related to HDMI license not HDCP. I have referred the -P model exactly because I know the HDCP license is needed for that. But there were several suppliers that told us that they are currently out of stock but even if they weren't they could only sell it to us if we were HDMI adopters. I find this weird because we are not selling our device yet.

Could this be a mistake on their part ?

In this case how can I build a board and evaluate the chip to my specific needs (not doable with the EVB) before paying the extremely high prices of being an HDMI adopter?

Thank you for the quick response Matt,

But we are in the proof-of-concept phase, we don't know for certain that this will work. We only need 2 or 3 samples (in case soldering goes wrong) so we can test and then actually become HDMI adopters if it works as designed.

We are not sure if this will work, we even can pay for the samples if it simplifies the process.

It is my understanding that we are requiring customers to be HDMI adopters in order to purchase HDMI-enabled devices.

I think this requirement has been in place for at least one year.

If your company is not an HDMI adopter and does not have the ability to become an HDMI adopter, then the only solution I can see is to partner on this project with another company which is an HDMI adopter and can purchase HDMI devices.

If I may suggest, get a EVAL-ADV7612-7511-SMZ board.  You can pull the jumpers that connect the ADV7612 to the 7511 and wire the outputs to another sink device.  Then develop your test scripts for your proof-of-concept designs.
