AD9978: Noise performance of CORRELATED DOUBLE SAMPLER(CDS)

Hi,

I have a question about the following text on the AD9978 data sheet Page 21.
" By using AFE Address 0x47, the CDS gain is variable in four steps: −3 dB, 0 dB (default), +3 dB, and +6 dB.
Improved noise performance results from using the +3 dB and +6 dB settings...."
Why is the noise performance improved when set to +3 dB and +6 dB?
Best regards,
Makio
