AD9398 Eval Board

I know AD9398 is NRND (thanks for all your help DaveD), but really is the right part for my client's needs, so can anyone tell me exactly what we get if we buy an Eval Board, in terms of schematic, layout, reference design, register settings, etc.

Also, Digikey list 2 parts:

AD9398/PCBZ

AD9398/PCBZ-ND

Anyone know the difference?

Many thanks,

Graham

    Hi Graham,

The "ND" is probably a digikey suffix.  It's not an ADI part number.  Many digikey part numbers contain that though.  Digikey mentions in their form at  that the AD9398/PCBZ-ND is the Analog Devices part number AD9398/PCBZ. I am assuming by the pricing that this would be comprised of the AD9398 evaluation daughter card and the DAIB motherboard with HDMI output.

The kits that we build have the power supply, a S/W CD and on the CD are documents with schematic and operating instructions. The S/W has complete register control for the board as well.

  • Thanks Dave, that's very helpful, but what is the DAIB motherboard? I searched the ADI site and didn't find it.

I'm slightly confused - are you suggesting that what Digikey are selling is different from what ADI produce and sell thru the distys?

It's good that the kit includes s/w and schematics - can you tell me the main functional blocks on the eval board? eg, minimum must be HDMI in to digital component video out, but are there DACs on board to give some sort of analogue component out, as in the EVAL-ATV-MBZ which has VGA out?

Thanks again, for all your help

    Hi Graham,

Digikey is selling the Evaluation Board kits that we design and build. The DAIB is the Display Audio Interface Board - our motherboard which accepts daughter cards such as the AD9398 or AD9880 board. The kit which Digikey sells consists of this daughter card, the DAIB, power supply, cables and S/W CD comlete with documentation. The outputs available from the DAIB are 8 channels of audio, HDMI TX and a VGA analog output. It is programmed over a parallel port or USB. I can arrange to send you all the schematics of these if you wish.

  • Hi Chris

Thanks very much for your informative reply - that's just what I wanted to hear!

Yes please, it would be great to see the schematics of the Eval Board kit - I'll send you a private message with my email address.

    Thanks again for your help

  • Graham,

I am also very interested int eh AD9398 eval board. We have designed it into two of our products and we are not able to get it to work. Hence, can you forward me the same documenation for the eval board. By the way, Digikey does not have the eval board in stock.

    Thanks

    Glen
