ADV7441A pixel errors on UXGA 162MHz

we have some troubles  with a new ADV7441A design: There are TMDS pixel errors, dependent on the frame content. This appears on 8/8 tested ADV7441A, some show more, some show less errors.

This appears at the highest DVI pixel clock (162MHz), with 152MHz it's all fine.

We tried the recommended settings for the Equalizer, with no effect in the right direction.

Board layout seems to be ok, distance between DVI connector and ADV is about 13mm only.

Does anybody have similar experiences and knows how to fix?

  • We have tried the settings that we found for the evaluation board. We tried a lot, so we are convinced that

    with Reg settings we will not come to success. This is some kind of TMDS or PLL problem,

    we are shure about that because there is one DVI source that works ok with ADV7441A

    I spent some time thinking about buying an evaluation board: The only thing that would be good to know

    is if the ADV7441A on the EvalBoard is working well with my DVI sources. The next I would do is soldering in one of my

    ADV7441A devices, just to verify that these are ok.

    But what for? The ADV7441 is ok, isn't it? Iam shure we are not the first one who are using it at UXGA resolution.

    So I assume that this is no silicon issue. Otherwise AD would know, and shurely post an errata about this.

    So I think the problem is on my HW. Should I send you schematic and Layout Data? Maybe you have an idea

    BTW, pls let me mention that we have quite a lot experience with DVI technology, we use since many years the AD9887 device.
