I am using ADV7390 to generate SD color bars, and using CVBS output. Everything is working fine in both NTSC and PAL. However, while generating test signals, no /HSYNC and /VSYNC signals appear at the respective pins. I have configured these two pins as outputs, following information in Tables 54, 55, and 56 in the datasheet Rev. J. Specifically:
Subaddress 0x02, bit 6 = 1
Subaddress 0x02, bit 7 = 0
There is no signal output. Does the ADV7390 not output sync signals while using its own internal test signal generator?
I believe that ,you follow the standard scripts, And also please make sure with below things for internal test pattern generation, SD Test Pattern- 27Mhz clock signal must be applied to the CLKIN pin. ED Test Pattern- 27Mhz clock signal must be applied to the CLKIN pin. HD Test Pattern- 74.25MHz clock signal must be applied to the CLKIN pin. For CVBS and S-Video (Y/C) output, 0xCB instead of 0xC9 should be written to Sub-address 0x82.For component RGB output rather than YPrPb output, 0 should be written to Sub-address 0x02, Bit 5.For ED/HD internal test patterns Sub-address 0x31, Bit 2 = 1 should be enable.
I have configured my ADV7390 to generate NTSC color bars, and it IS WORKING. I used the setup information contained in the datasheet section "INTERNAL TEST PATTERN GENERATION - SD TEST PATTERNS" and your reply.
The problem I am having is that no signals are output on the /VSYNC and /HSYNC pins while color bars are being generated. I have configured Subaddress 0x02 with value 0x60 so that bit 6 is "1". This should cause syncs to be output on the /VSYNC and /HSYNC pins, but there are no signals output.
As per expert comment, when test pattern is enabled on the ADV739X parts, they do not look at the external syncs at all. the timing is all generated internally. Only the pixel clock input is required. If Sub-address 0x02 is set to default value,in this case you can able to get an signals Hsync/Vsync pins?
