Using ADV7391 for Genlock - Black Burst

Hi,

I'm using an ADV7391 on my development design to produce a Genlock (Black Burst) signal from DAC 1 that the system requires. The datasheet for the part recommends an output buffer and an optional reconstruction (anti-imaging) low pass filter in various forms for SD, ED, and HD. Do I require any special requirements if I want to use the DAC1 output for Genlock?

Regards,

Darren

    Hi Darren,

I don't think the requirements would be any different that the corresponding normal outputs for the format you are generating. It would be specific to your application needs.

  • Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply. The datasheet is not clear on the use of the device for Genlock, either in SD (Black Burst) or HD (Tri-Level Sync). Are there any application notes for this device available from Analog that might contain information regarding the usage for Genlock?

    Hi Darren,

Not that I have been able to find-- I don't see any specific requirements or recommendations for Genlock.  The recommendations for output filters on page 69 that I think you are referring to are it.
