Question about ADV7612 connect with DM368?

      We connect ADV7162 with DM368 vpif port, Connection: vpif0<--->LLC, Y0-Y7 <---->P16-P23, C0-C7<--->P4-P17,HS<--->HS,VS<---->VS. Input: 720*576 50HZ(PAL mode) from video player .Output: BT656 to DM368.

When we use setting as follow, the DM368 can not get video, please help us, thank you very much!

When we measure it,LLC 27MHZ, VS 60HZ,HS 15.365 KHZ,  can the adv7612  work with PAL input ? can the adv7612 output with PAL?

  • The ADV7612 should work fine with PAL.

  • Thank you very much, we connect HDMI player with ADV7612, read hdmi 0x68 registers as follow:

    The value 0x0 is 0x8

    The value 0x1 is 0x6

    The value 0x2 is 0x3

    The value 0x3 is 0x42

    The value 0x4 is 0x62

    The value 0x5 is 0x28

    The value 0x6 is 0xa6

    The value 0x7 is 0x40

    The value 0x8 is 0x14

    The value 0x9 is 0x0

    The value 0xa is 0x90

    The value 0xb is 0x44

    The value 0xc is 0x42

    The value 0xd is 0x1e

    The value 0xe is 0xf

It looks like that the adv7162 can not detect HDMI signal, we design hardware as follow picture:

we don't connect the DDCA_SCL,DDCA_CLK,CEC, because we test HDMI player connect with SII9135,it  work fine. The adv7612 must deal with these singals ??

  • 1) CEC is not needed, no problem

    2) DDC is not technically required for things to work as long as the source outputs DVI signals.

    2) From the register dump you are in DVI mode which is OK.

    3) The schematic looks OK

    4) Have you tried this on our eval board?

    https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-1713

also this page as scripts which setup the 7612 correctly

I think you are already using scripts from

    https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-1879

Note that 8-bit 656 will come out of port P23..16 only.  You don't need P17-P4 connected.   LLC will be 27MHz which is what you are seeing.

  • YES,I use scripts from, https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-1879.

I can not borrow from ADI of China, because ADI of China has only one board. I can not buy it because long time to get it.

When adv7612 don't connect with HDMI player, Empty A port, the dump registers as follow:

    The value 0x0 is 0x8

    The value 0x1 is 0x6

    The value 0x2 is 0x3

    The value 0x3 is 0x42

    The value 0x4 is 0x62

    The value 0x5 is 0x28

    The value 0x6 is 0xa6

    The value 0x7 is 0x40

    The value 0x8 is 0x14

    The value 0x9 is 0x0

    The value 0xa is 0x90

    The value 0xb is 0x44

    The value 0xc is 0x42

    The value 0xd is 0x1e

    The value 0xe is 0xf.

LLC is 27MHZ, so I can not understand this result!

I test HDMI Player signal from Aigilent open lab ,it's fne.

  • The pixel rep rate shows it as 9x which is strange however the LLC is 27MHz which is correct.

    Try setting HDMI 0x00 = 0x00

    Try setting HDMI 0x01 = 0x01

    Is there activity on P23..17?

  • Hi, Guenterl ,Thank you!

YES,I can see singal ,the data and clock is OK, clock is 27MHZ, BT656 mode is detected by DM368.

    the setting of DM368: width = 720, height = 576 , framelins = 625, the mode is  interleaved

But the video is not correct, as follow:

I don't know where the setting of adv7612 may change it.

  • Hello,

The fact that the bottom 1/4 of the screen image above looks good points the the fact that the 7612 is outputting correct 656 data during this interval and that it is connected to the DM368 correctly.  If it was not you would not even get one line of valid image.  The top 3/4 image looks like a pixelation issue in the DM368 and how it interprets the incoming data.

  • The REPL_AV_CODE must be set 0( Outputs complete SAV/EAV codes on all channels, Channel A,Channel B and Channel C) in Register of 0x05 (IO part). So it causes sync of video, doesn't it?

When I set 720x576, it looks like the blank data replace the video data, the setting of width is not correct ?

  • REPL_AV_CODE is normally set to 0 so you get the same embedded codes across all three channels.  Setting to 1 is a special case that you really don't want.  DATA_BLANK_EN will only insert blanks during the horizontal and vertical blanking intervals.

  • Hi, my name is Christian, I want to start a development with adv7612 and dm368. Do you have success with your proyect?
