Noticed that the 1701 and 1461 are no longer recommended for new designs...... as I went through the Sigma Processor table I noticed that the new chipsets don't include onboard ADC and DAC's
Where is that published? I didn't see a NRFND note on the product page for the 1701. However, the 1461 is indeed not recommended. Seems the 1701 is safe for now?
However, it is very strange to me that the 1701 (and others) is identified as a "CODEC", so it no longer appears on the DSP section of the parametric search.
Seems like a really odd decision. Anyone from ADI want to comment on this?
Sorry, my bad I meant the 1401.......No longer recommended for new designs...
I was also thrown off by the 1701 not being listed on the SIGMA list of processors....
Yes, our web team made changes in recent months to make tables fill in more automatically but now many processors do not show up!! It is on my to-do list to go through this and let them know about it.
The ADAU1401 is a special case in that it was the automotive qualified version of the 1701 and we will no longer support the automotive version. The 1701 is safe for now and there is still plenty of interest and sales of that part. I do not expect it to go away anytime soon.
You are correct that most of our new processors do not have built in conversion but there is a chance we may do something in the future.
