Running portions of BF-518 code out of external boot memory

I have a BF-518 application that is too large to fit into internal SRAM and the system does not contain external RAM. After booting from external flash memory, I would like the time-critical code to reside in internal SRAM and the rest of the code to reside in a spare section of the external flash memory. I know that using memory overlays is an option, but it seems to me that locating part of the code in an unused portion of the boot memory could be a simpler solution. The boot memory is assigned to MEM_ASYNC0. Is it possible to set up the project to operate in this manner?
