I would like to generate an arbitrary waveform, say a square wave or sine wave, using the AD 5781 DAC. How can I program the DAC in order to do this? I'm not sure where to start...

You may control the AD5781 using the evaluation software, it can be downloaded from the evaluation board's page. On the same web page, you can also find the user guide which will help you in configuring the board, the interface and the software.
May I know what are you going to use to control the AD5781? If you are going to control it with a microcontroller, you may want to get the EVAL-AD5781 and connect your microcontroller through the PMOD connectors of the EVAL-AD5781. On the firmware side, you can use the AD5781 NO-OS driver and perform the necessary changes for your microcontroller.
I suggest that you start practicing sending one frame at a time and check if the corresponding DAC output is as expected just to make sure your hardware setup is working. Then you may try to send stream of data to create the waveform you want. Please do ask if you have more questions.

I can use a microcontroller to control the AD5781, but I have both the EVAL-AD5781 and the SDP-B. Is there any way to control the AD5781 using these two boards in connection with a PC (as the SDP-B can micro-USB into the PC)?
