Using SSM2518 to drive headphones

Is it possible to drive headphones using a Class D amplifier.

I have a client wanting to use the SSM2518 as a headphone amplifier. They are needing 1 - 3 Watts of power for the headphones.

Searching for any information on this application brought up this article from EDN http://www.edn.com/design/analog/4313726/Add-headphones-to-a-Class-D-amplifier which uses the phase difference between the output signals to allow connecting to a standard pair of headphones.

Looking through the data for the SSM2518  there is no mention of this so I am looking for advice if this idea would work ?

Thanks John
